On 17th Sept., the opening ceremony of the 13th West Lake EXPO as well as the 2nd World Leisure EXPO was held in the Chengshan Plaza in Xianghu, Xiaoshan District. Over the following two months, the two EXPOs were going to be great showcases for tourists as well as locals to experience the leisurely life with the beautiful sceneries of West Lake, fragrant Longjing tea and delicious local food.

    The World Leisure Expo this year is located in Xianghu Lake of Xiaoshan, White Horse Lake of Binjiang and Thousand-Island Lake of Chun'an. Apart from these main venues, in Hangzhou there are ten sub-venues in cities of Haining, Shangyu, Zhuji,Deqing, Anji, Wuyi, Longquan, Nanxun, Jiangshan and Fengjing.

    The theme exhibition hall located in White Horse Lake opened on 18th Sept. Free admission to the theme exhibition hall as well as 50 yuan admission ticket for Leisure EXPO are both available from the ticketing office at the entrance.

    Displayed on the 3rd floor, the highlights of Leisure EXPO is the 3D version of the scrolls of Upper River duing Qingming Festival and Southern Song Dynasty which take you back in time to the world of 900 years ago.

    On 22nd Oct. the annual West Lake Fireworks Show will make the night sky of Hangzhou splendid again. This year it will be played over Qiantang River and Grand Canal. The main venue for the fireworks show is the Qianwang Shechao Square of Binjiang District.

    Total 200,000 fireworks will be displayed under the four themes of Happy Qiantang, Paradise on the Earth, Harmonious Ancient Capital and Development in New Era.

    Meanwhile, at 8pm - 8:20pm on every Saturday from 24th Sept. to 18th Nov., there will be a fireworks show in Xianghu Lake as a part of the Leisure Expo. During the 1st Oct. National Day holidays, there are extra fireworks shows on the evenings of2nd and 6th Oct.

    Free public transport available for EXPOs

    Tourists can enjoy free shuttle services to the White Horse Lake with admission tickets of the Leisure EXPO from 16th Sept. to the end of Leisure EXPO.

    Shuttle service 981: daily from Baochu Road to White Horse Lake.

    Shuttle service 982: from Yellow Dragon Sports Centre to White Horse Lake on weekends and public holidays.

    Shuttle service 983: from Qingchun Square to White Horse Lake on weekends and public holidays.

    Shuttle service 984: from City West Square to White Horse Lake on weekends and public holidays.

    Shuttle service 951: from Xingguang Boulevard South to White Horse Lake on weekends and public holidays.

    Suttle service  952: from Xiaoshan City North Car Park to White Horse Lake on weekends and public holidays.

    Private vehicles can use the Park & Ride in Binjiang District and catch free shuttle buses from the Park & Ride to WhiteHorse Lake. (Translated by E.C. Hick).
